The Street Where We Live

I thought it was about time I added some pictures of our home. I love Utah with frosting on it! My favorite pictures of our home and the surrounding landscape also have snow. I'll add a few more pictures here for everyone's enjoyment.
This really is the street where we live. At our end it dead end's into a pasture. Looking south you see the other end of the street ends in a court. It's quite lovely isn't it?
To the right you'll see Jeff walking our beloved pup, Floyd, the first winter we were here. The view is the not quite finished home across the street from us. We didn't have a fence up until much later in the year so Floyd had to go out for his daily constitutional at least twice a day. He was loving it, I have to say! What you may not be able to see in the photo is that he's got black vinyl booties on to keep his little feet from freezing.
This TABLE at the top of the basement stairs was made by Mike for his wife (my daughter) Katie. It stores outdoor slip on shoes and such. It's quite beautiful and shows off some of Mike's wood-working talent! In this next photo you would be standing in the family room. You can see the kitchen, the basement stairs and the hallway to the left goes to the front door entry area. Since I do not want to fill up this posting with photos and make it hectic and confusing I'll let that be the last one for now. I've been working on reworking my Scrapbook workshop and now have my sewing things in there as well. I basically divided it in two halves and will be putting up some shelving for more storage. I'll click a few shots of that room once it's finished and be working on getting some nice pictures of the other rooms as I go.
One more thing... I took Jacob to the dollar movies today to see "Nim's Island". I've seen it once and it was very good. Jacob has been asking me to take him for quite awhile and he enjoyed it as well. Previous to seeing the movie we did have the ever-present previews. One I was particularly interested in is the new Journey to the Center of the Earth starring Brendan Fraser. As the dinosaur was chasing Brendan's character and nearly chomping his backside I asked Jacob if he thought it looked like an exciting movie to which he replied, "Getting ate - not exciting..." I had to agree with him there!

A Gift For Gramma

My firstborn, Christy, has sent me this picture of a painting she created for my mother; aka Gramma. She presented it to Mom as a combination birthday and Mother's Day gift. She completed the gift by hanging the painting in her grandmother's mobile home. What a thoughtful child she is, and talented too! She's a very 'swirly' girl if there is such a thing. We do love Christy's unique style of art and hope her talent is recognized by someone who's got a little extra cash to throw around!

What Happened on Monday

Imagine my surprise when I checked into Stephanie's blog and saw this photo! Yes folks, that's Kaitlin at Temple Square. No, we didn't even know they were stopping through on their way to Sun Valley, Idaho. We sure do miss you guys! Why don't you call and let us know when you'll be back through. Perhaps we will be able to meet you this time for dinner or for breakfast before you head back to smokey California. We only live 30 minutes from the airport and it will be no trouble at all to come see you! Stephanie! Jimmy! Kaitlin! We miss you so terribly! Please give us a call! Write on our blog! Contact us somehow! Hopefully you're checking MY blogspot when you are logging in to add to your own during your trip. I do hope you are having a wonderful trip on the other hand. With all the fires in California and the wildfire in the Napa Hills you'd better enjoy the fresh clean air while you can!
As to me this week I'm still on ice but am doing a lot better regarding the re-injury of my back. I managed to get a little laundry folded and put away today and the floor vacuumed in the cat room. My kitties stinketh. Really. It's their new food and they are very happy with it so I'm dealing with it. We've been getting Ready-Pak food storage monthly so we are building up our supplies. We are planning to eat some of the meals as we got along but since the first one was stored in the cold storage room when we first got it we have yet to eat any! In other news my house cleaner, Jamie, is coming back to help me out. I thought I was ready to start doing it all myself...NOT! My dear husband will not see me completely worn out and unable to do what I'd like so he has insisted Jamie comes back. I am so appreciative of him.
Alright then, I do think that is enough rambling for now. I'll leave you to the reading and I'll get on with my resting. TTFN!

The Second Wednesday Following The Tuesday When I Posted Last!

So here I am again, just over a week later. I had intended to post more often but I reinjured my back and have been recuperating. No, I don't know how to spell that word so I hope it's okay! Now the thing I did to injure myself, believe it or not, was to bend over the couch where I had Ellie sitting while putting on her socks and shoes. Once I stood up, or rather tried to stand up, the low back pain gripped me and I was done for! I will say since being able to finally visit the Chiropractor on Monday, Tuesday and today I'm feeling much better.

What did we do on the weekend? Jeff, my sister Debbie and I drove to Manti to see the Mormon Miracle Pageant. We really loved it and are so glad we went! We stayed at a Bed & Breakfast, which was actually someone's basement across from the 'real' B&B, had a horrible night's sleep but a wonderful hot breakfast once we got up. We had a nice time together laughing, joking, listening to a book on tape while driving, etc.

I would recommend viewing the pageant to anyone who has been interested in seeing it. Bring a tent and camp overnight in the park. You will appreciate the $5 fee and probably get a better night's sleep than we did! Bring one blanket per person to use while viewing the pageant. Bring mosquito spray! Don't forget or you'll be sorry. You cannot help but be Spiritually touched by the depiction of the story laid before your eyes.

As for this interesting photo, it's an authentic pioneer family dugout. My Great-Great-Grandfather immigrated to the US when he was 13 years old. The family was assigned to the city of Levan and the first winter they spent in the US, in Levan, Utah, was spent in a dugout like this one. It's amazing to know what sort of sacrifices my ancestors made for me to be able to enjoy the blessings of the Gospel in these latter days. I thank them with all my heart and am so grateful for their stalwart example of doing what the Lod asks.

That's it for today. I hope all is well with everyone who is reading this posting today!

Tuesday Afternoon

The day has been just gorgeous! Today has not been an exceptionally busy day with a little babysitting and some organizational work thrown in. Jacob has been my buddy since this morning and we do tend to spend a great deal of time together on a daily basis! It's really great having grandchildren living in the house with you, I have to say. So aside from those activities it has been a rather lazy day. It has given me a chance to work on this new blog I've started though! I'll get it all straight one of these days and will know everything there is to know about blogging!

A few things about me; I'm learning how to garden. I have Sarcoidosis. I have a husband, Jeff, and two daughters, Christy & Katie. I have a son-in-law, Mike, and two grandchildren, Jacob & Ellie. We have an Alpha dog named Floyd as well as two 13 year old cats who are named Tigger and Cassidy. I'm a trained Pediatric ICU RN. I got an invitation to join AARP this year... Okay, enough on me for today!
